As much fun as those Guitar Hero and Rock Band game nights might be for you and the kids, after a while you realize that the games aren’t really teaching the musical skills you’d hoped (though coordination skills are another thing — those colored buttons don’t hit themselves). Enter Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, announced today by publisher/developer Seven45 Studios. Purportedly the next generation of music video games, the upcoming title combines standard follow-the-button play with “chord play,” which requires specific finger placement on the strings. Did we mention there are actual strings on the guitar? Start those finger warm-ups now, kiddo.
No price or specific date yet, but PowerGig: Rise of the SixString will be available sometime this fall for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Learn more and sign up for news at Power Gig’s website.
