As a working mama with high food standards, I’ve come to find “easy” and “healthy” rarely come hand-in-hand — which is why I was eager to try out Greenie Tots for us all. The Florida-based company promises minimally processed, all-natural MEATLESS meals with no hormones, pesticides or high-fructose corn syrup in their wide range of infant (from 6 months) to toddler (up to 5 years) meals. Plus, the food is delivered frozen to your doorstep. So how did they fare?
As for the delivery, the package safely arrived at my doorstep in environmentally friendly, BPA-free containers that you can either pop in the microwave or boil on the stove. (I chose to boil.) Once the water’s boiling, it only takes a couple of minutes to have food on the table — and seeing that they offer overnight delivery, it’s a fast option for us busy folk.

I tried out stage 1 and stage 2, as my son is starting to enter the latter, and I’m completely honest when I say he LOVED the pureed sweet potato and white bean, as well as the pasta marinara and lentil. I liked the fact that it was hearty and filling while being safe and healthy.

For stage 2, we tried the pasta with “meat” sauce and spinach which was a big, big hit — even for me, as I picked off his plate. It was a wee bit mushy (possibly to me overcooking, which I tend to do), but it was still extremely flavorful and yummy. They also offer mac and cheese with peas, “chicken” spinach and cheese quesadillas, and “chicken” nuggets with sweet potatoes. Perfect for those passing on a vegetarian lifestyle, the meals don’t actually contain any meat.

The stage 3 foods are the same, only bigger portions.
I’ve tried quite a few organic brands, which is easier to come across for babies than toddlers, and I’d give Greenie Tots 3.5 out of 4 stars. (It’s a bit pricey to get a variety of toddler food since each meal comes in a 6-pack for $30. So if you want some mac & cheese, pasta marinara, and quesadillas, that’s almost $100. But you’ll have 18 meals.)
Overall: Delicious, healthy and convenient — and because everything is pre-packaged and freezable, no more wasted food. Perfect for a back-up plan when life gets a bit hectic.
