CES 2010: Nyko Type Pad Pro Bridges The Word/Wii Gap

Using the Wii for stuff other than strictly gaming is fun and all, but anyone who has tried to enter in any kind of text with the “Wii-Mote” can tell you, it can be frustrating. Third-party gaming gurus Nyko have developed a simple little device for helping you out with that, The Type Pad Pro.

The Type Pad Pro is a full QWERTY keyboard that works with a Wii controller. As you can see from the picture, all you need to do is  put your Wii controller (either the Nintendo Remote Controller  or Nyko’s Wand) in the center and start typing. It will work better with Nyko’s own “Wand” because the Type Pad will take the A and B buttons on the Wand and map them to their own buttons on the Type Pad (a trick that won’t work with a normal Wii Remote Controller).

The Type Pad Pro will be out in stores in late January and will retail for $29.99. Check it out at Nyko.com
