Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 Toys: Going, Going…

If you aren’t familiar with Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 toys, odds are you don’t have a Cartoon Network-watching little boy in the house. If you know whereof we speak, you’re probably scrambling to pick up the latest in Hot Wheels vehicles, sets and figures before the stores are cleaned out of ‘em — one of this season’s bigger sleepers, Battle Force 5 has been selling out steadily both online and in offline retail stores since Black Friday weekend. (Oh, and don’t forget the video games, too.)

Based on the Cartoon Network animated series that finds a group of teenage race-car wunderkinds fighting to save Earth from hordes of intergalactic baddies (hey, no one said this was high art…), the Battle Force 5 toy line lets kids play-act as the heroes using everything from single vehicles to full-scale play sets. Many of the toys, such as the seven-pack vehicle set shown above ($14.99 exclusively from Toys”R”Us), include extras such as DVDs or comic books, but the toys themselves feature enough interesting features — micro-sized action figures and snap-on weapons and other accessories among them — that it’s easy to see why kids are going gaga for ‘em.
