Babble Review: Super Special Friend Kai-Lan

Ni Hao Kai LanLike Dora before her, Kai-Lan is fast becoming a pre-school superstar. And Fisher-Price’s line of dolls from the Nick Jr. show named for the Chinese tot, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, are flying off shelves before Black Friday has even hit.

We took Super Special Friend Kai-Lan out of the box here at Babble to see what kind of friend she’ll be to our testers.

The verdict: the big heart on screen is a big hit with tots who loved watching the colors change on the heart embedded in the doll’s chest. A “press her hand and she talks” doll, the color changes represent a switch in Kai-Lan’s mood, keying kids into changing emotions while they hug her, dance with her and more.

We would have liked the doll to be a tad more cuddly – she’s a hard plastic with a giant head – but she was lightweight enough to be toted around by a tiny tot.

Get her at Amazon for $33. 49 with free shipping.
