Forty years ago, Sesame Street was created based on a simple, but revolutionary idea: television can be educational and fun. Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days is a two DVD set that takes us from the first season in 1969 to today. We see a lot has changed on Sesame Street (Oscar used to be orange and the original cast members are older), but a lot is still the same, like the humor and creativity that makes Sesame Street such a success. It’s a hoot to see the popular culture of the seventies and eighties and see the skits and songs from my childhood. I can say with certainty that, even though my daughter loves this DVD collection, I enjoy it even more. As corny as it sounds, Sesame Street brings out the kid in all of us.
