They’re still calling it the Hess Truck – it’s tradition after all – but the 2009 holiday vehicle from the Hess Corporation isn’t a truck at all.
For the first time ever, they’re sending a race car out the doors of gas stations and convenience stores as the main attraction. Smaller race cars have accompanied the truck in years past, but according to a press release from Hess, this is the first time since the truck was launched in 1964, that the car has taken center stage.
And what a car it promises to be. Going on sale on Nov. 13 (mark your calendars – I know from experience these babies sell quick), the race car will boast 29 lights and three realistic sounds and come with a smaller race car.
The 2009 truck will retail for $24.99. Find out more at Hess Toy Truck.com.
The Hess Truck is a long-standing tradition in my family – one that started well before I was born. Do you pick up Hess trucks for the kids? Are you disappointed to see it isn’t a truck this year?

Yes I will keep up the tradition ,We were a dealer for 22years We have all but the tanker that was stolen Wish I could get One.
Yes I too will keep up the tradition. Although I’m accustomed to the trunk, a little change doesn’t hurt.
Jo Ann I have a tanker if it is what your looking for and would be interested in selling it. It is in fair shape. The tanker appears to be complete, the tractor has both mirrors missing, one air breather missing, grab handle on drivers side missing, back side of air horn passenger side is broke off, bumper passenger side of tractor is broke, the rest of the rig looks in good shape, all tires are in place. If I had an e-mail to send pictures I would take some and e-mail.
