We recently joined in the speculation about a price cut for the Wii, but now it’s official: Starting on Sept. 27, the ultimate family-friendly game console will drop by $50 to $199.99. Nothing’s been sacrificed with the new price point, either: You still get the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, along with Wii Sports software, when you buy the system.
Nintendo is also rolling out a few new spins on some favorite games over the next few months. On Oct. 4, Wii Fit Plus, er, pumps up Wii Fit with new multiplayer elements and the ability to customize individual workout programs. Nov. 15, meanwhile, sees the release of what Nintendo is calling “the first truly multiplayer Mario title ever,” New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which allows for up to four players (read: the whole family) to jump into the action at once.
