The Babble Review: Better Life Green Cleaning Products

Change of season means another seasonal cleaning. What? You didn’t get to spring cleaning yet? No big deal. Prepare to tackle whatever mess with Better Life Green Cleaning Products. I’ve experimented with many different kinds of greener cleaners to either find them not work or that they’re full of synthetic dyes and fragrances, but Better Life is different.

Developed by guys who didn’t want routine cleaning to endanger their kids and pets, Better Life products are made without sulfates, ethoxylates, fragrances, dyes, or volatile organic compounds such as glycol ethers and alcohol. In fact, they’re so proud of their concoctions, they post the ingredients lists on their website. Better yet, Better Life products work.

I’ve been working my way through the Better Life Starter Kit ($35.55), and I’m planning refills once the I run out (but that said, the kit comes with full-size bottles).

The stand outs:

I Can See Clearly, WOW! glass cleaner and the Even the Kitchen Sink gentle scrubber are the kind of cleaners that point out when you’ve missed a spot when you wipe surfaces. I thought that the glass cleaner left streaks of sticky fingerprints on one of my car windows. On closer examination, I realized I just hadn’t wiped that strip of window. I don’t have any gentle surfaces — like granite — but the scrubber and and the loofah sponges easily wiped away the soap scum from my tub.

Just FYI:

The what-EVER Clary Sage & Citrus all-purpose cleaner has a faint, pleasant scent, but many of the Better Life products are fragrance-free. If you’re used to cleaners with “aromatherapy” scents, it’s a confusing NOT to smell anything at all. Don’t confuse perfuming a room with cleaning it.
