I’ve drooled over Fisher-Price’s GeoTrax Transportation System in the past, but in light of the vehicle/road sets’ recent head-on collision with Disney/Pixar’s Cars, I — I mean, my kids — have a whole new reason to have GeoTrax on the brain.
Lightning McQueen, Doc, Mater, Ramone and Flo (in the Flo’s V8 Café set pictured here) are among the Cars characters who’ve made the transition to GeoTrax, and the sets’ chunky vehicles and sturdy, snap-together pieces make a perfect match for the gang from Radiator Springs. Kids can easily put together the tracks themselves, and the bone-simple remote controls on the motorized cars (including a turbo-charged Lightning McQueen who can outrun standard GeoTrax vehicles) make it easy to rev your way through the movie’s scenery.
I could be biased (my youngest, who’s 3 1/2, has been positively Cars-obsessed for the past year), but I’m predicting these to be a sleeper hit this holiday season. Start making your wish list now at Fisher-Price.com, or hit your local Target or Toys”R”Us to do some comparison shopping. Both retailers seem amply stocked in these slow pre-Halloween shopping days, but TRU is the only place so far I’ve seen the mother lode, a 6-in-1 Cars Mega Set, so far.
