My daughter, Oona, starts kindergarten in a week. When I’m not feeling all emotional (and singing “Sunrise, Sunset”) that my baby is going off to school, I’m having a ball outfitting her for the classroom. The new fall line of children’s clothes from Elephantito is a great place to start. The company’s tag-line, “A Modern Approach to Classics,” is perfect. From this season’s Corduroy Pinafore to the collection of shoes, Elephantito’s styles are reminiscent of the beautiful clothes my mother wore as a child, yet they are refashioned for ultimate durability and comfort. The entire fall selection (view here) is fabulous, but it’s the dresses that make me really swoon. On the first day of school I want to dress Oona in Elephantito’s Feather Dress (with pleats!) and send her off with an apple for the teacher and her books fastened by a strap. But, it’s not 1945 and she can’t read. I guess I’ll settle for the dress and some Polly Pockets.
On the second day my plan is to send her in this lovely Smocked Shirt Dress. I really hope she agrees!
In other great news, Elephantito clothes are affordable: $66 for the Feather Dress and $70 for the Smocked Shirt Dress. You can order them at www.elephantito.com.
