Road Test: Baby Jogger City Micro

Model 89134 Large 1 241x300 Road Test: Baby Jogger City MicroAfter road testing more than 30 strollers for a Babble Best article, we heard the feedback, “What about Baby Jogger?” So we leapt at the chance to take the new Baby Jogger City Micro for a spin.

Weighing in at 16 lbs, the City Micro ($159.99) offers baby a comfortable and wide seat. As for mom/dad or sitter, steering with one hand was never a problem.  The wide canopy and deep storage basket were definite pluses, but there were many areas where this stroller is lacking.  I don’t know about the city where you live, but here in Brooklyn, we’ve got big curbs and bumpy sidewalks, the rickety 6″ and 8″ EVA wheels were mighty disappointing–especially from a brand known for their suspension systems. The brakes seemed meager, I wouldn’t trust them on a steep hill.

It wasn’t all bad news; I swooned for the simple fold system–grab the seat strap and Viola! The stroller is flat as a pancake ready to load into the car or slip into a closet. As far as appearances, the City Micro looks good and we like the modern color choices. I would question why the design team didn’t factor in a deeper recline feature.  The current functionality doesn’t look too comfortable.
