Today BabyBjorn announced a voluntary recall on the Babysitter Balance and Babysitter Balance Air. We’ve been testing this seat for a few months and haven’t had any issues. In fact we found the seat to be very stable and a nice spot for baby to chill. The trouble started in Japan. Two consumers found small metal pieces in the padded section of the Babysitter’s fabric seat. These small metal pieces could be a safety issue.
BabySwede (the makers of both seats) and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a voluntary recall to inspect all the seats. Seats produced after June 2009 won’t be effected by the recall and will have a special green sticker to indicate they are safe. To get details on shipping your seat back for inspection and possible replacement call BabySwede customer service at 866.424.0200. Go here for a list of questions and answers about the recall. Currently there are more than 7,000 seats that are effected by this recall.
