FIRST LOOK: Monsters Take Over the Bedroom

First it was the bathroom, and now ALEX Toys’ Moody Monsters are headed for a toddler’s bedroom near you. Babble gave you a sneak peek at what the new partnership between ALEX and CHF Industries means for your bathroom last week, and we’re continuing the show with a look at the brand new bedding collection slated for stores this fall.

They’ve got kids’ moods down to a tee with a bedroom set that’s brimming with fun. Take the crazy quilt (at $109 for a twin, it will put the biggest dent in your pocketbook for this otherwise fairly economical set), with a silly monster face popping out of the center. Sitting just round a child’s chest (when they’re in bed), he’s sure to keep the monsters IN the closet so your little ones will face sweet dreams. Match it with monster sheets (right now only in twin size, but demand should help increase that – so demand away!), and they’ll be safe from fears all night long.

The line is being sold piecemeal, so you can end it right there or go all out with a pre-schooler’s paradise. Our little tester’s must-have was this hamper, which can double for dirty clothes or toy storage and folds down when you don’t need it. The soft lid is easy to flip off and on – and there’s no fear that little fingers will get caught.

Under-the-bed is the theme for this set – after all, where do all the best monsters hide? The quilt comes packed in a sturdy bag for under-the-bed storage for everything else.

And there is plenty of everything elses you can add – from kooky pillows (I’m a fan of crazy knitted Carl myself) to cuddly pals (good to know – most of these say “surface wash only,” but I threw everything in my machine inside a pillowcase, and they survived).

ALEX has managed to take monsters and put them in a good mood all the time, and the bedroom set will chase all your kids’ monsters fears away. Check it out come August when it hits RoundTable Toys with prices in the $20 to $30 range per item.
