You know them as the toy company rolling out bath and around-the-house toys alike, but ALEX Toys’ relationship with CHF Industries means they’re coming to a kids’ bathroom near you, and Babble got a first look at what they have in store.
The Moody Monsters collection (which matches up with several of their monster toys) will roar into your bathroom . . . quietly. The main accents – a giant dotted cloth shower curtain and soft spotted towels – are fun with their crazy colors, but sedate enough that they’ll work in a bathroom meant for the whole family.
It’s the accents that will let visitors know “a kid lives here,” from the hooded monster towels (setting themselves apart from the rest of the hooded towel market, these sport monster hands for little pruney fingers to recover inside and funny monster tails) to the two monster feet that double as little bath mats for wet kids to clomp on.
A foot-action garbage can with monster print is easy for little kids to manage (and the lid closes slowly to protect little fingers), and the lotion dispenser, soap dish, etc. are surprisingly sturdy (we say surprisingly because they’re made not of plastic but a heavy clay . . . better than ceramic).
A must buy, according to my own daughter, is the monster night light (up top) – his red glowing belly lets you know just what “mood” these monsters strike – hilarity in the toddler set.
CHF is behind the likes of Donna Karan’s home line and the kid-friendly Green Gorilla, and the variety in the line will allow parents to put in as much or as little monster moodiness as they like. Kids will love it for all that ALEX Toys is already known for: goofy kid-friendliness. Adults will dig the ability to pick and choose . . . and who knows, that night light might end up in Mom’s room (unfortunately, the hooded towel won’t fit her).
The line will hit Target on September 20. With prices topping out at $24.99 for the most expensive items (the shower curtains), you can easily outfit your monster bathroom for under $100.
