7 Days of Monsters: Make Your Own Roar

We’re counting down the days until the Where the Wild Things movie premiere here on Babble, but we’re not letting the green-eyed monster take over our summer. Check out our seven days of monstrously good fun:

We get the show on with the Little Experience’s Create-It Monster Fingers Kit, a cute canvas bag that’s packed full of creepy. With enough felt and googly eyes to kit out three little monsters, the kit screams fun (in a deep monster boom, of course).

We’d recommend this one for ages 3 and up (maybe a little older if your kids still put things in their mouths – including glue sticks!). Get the whole set for $7.50 over at Cattiwampus.

make your own monster 300x300 7 Days of Monsters: Make Your Own RoarFor kids under three, the Melissa and Doug Make-Your-Own Monster Kit might be a better pick (although it’s a hit with the over three crowd too – ask my four-year-old). A felt puppet body can be matched with Velcro-on eyes, ears, noses, arms, hair and more in hundreds of different combinations. They’ll make their own monster, alright, but chances are they’ll never have to make the same one twice.

The Velcro makes for easy-on, easy-off, and the fun is in making the kookier monster the better, which makes this Melissa and Doug a hit with any kid – there’s no artistic talent required. Just an appreciation for goofy faces!

Get one from Psychobaby and put on your puppet show (send us a picture – we’d love to see).
