Being Pregnant
What a Difference a Year Makes
It’s been almost exactly a year since we had our first visit with a fertility specialist. When I think back to that time what I most remember is how hard it was for both my husband and I. Not only were we experiencing the mid-winter slump, we were finally admitting to ourselves that there was a problem and Clomid wasn’t working. My husband was also dealing with the stress of preparing for and taking the Bar. Needless to say, it wasn’t the best February ever.
And now here I’m sitting with a rounded belly feeling the baby kick away and waiting for my husband to return home from his job as an attorney. To say I feel blessed is an understatement. I think some thank yous are in order. Continue reading »
What’s Your #1 Baby Essential?

Tomorrow marks my last day here and I thought I’d take the opportunity while I had it to ask you lovely mamas one last question. If you could only pick only one baby essential to recommend, what would it be? I’m finding it challenging to figure out where to even start when deciding on what we need for this baby and that’s turned into us having basically nothing at this point. So I’d love to hear what was the one thing you couldn’t live without when you had a newborn (besides the obvious like diapers). Ready, advice time!

My Favorite Thing to Wear at 29 Weeks
I can’t imagine that anybody loves maternity pants. It’s not that they can’t look cute, my issue is that I get tired of pulling them up all the time. While the next logical move would be sweat pants, I do have to go out in public sometimes so I’ve turned to the dress and we’ve quickly become buddies. My favorite find lately (and you can bet I’m wearing it at least two days a week) is this flowy, belted dress from Old Navy. It’s not maternity and it still fits just right with room to grow. And I’m not measuring small, promise. It comes in this cute floral red pattern and navy polka dots too (below). I just tell my bump everyday not to get too much bigger so I can keep on wearing both. Do You Like 3D Ultrasounds?
Today we had an ultrasound and to my surprise, the black and white image turned into a 3D look at our baby. To tell you the truth, it was hard to make out much while looking at the screen but then the tech printed a few stills and I was stunned at how detailed the images were. At first it took me back a little bit. I couldn’t believe I was seeing what our baby looked like without him even leaving the womb. Ever since I knew I was pregnant (heck, ever since I met my husband) I’ve wondered what our kids would look like and the answer was sitting right in front of me. I was studying every detail.
The first thing I definitely noticed was his nose which is prominent just like his mom and dad. Then I noticed how much he already looks like my husband, very much a boy. If we hadn’t found at the sex I for sure would have known after seeing his picture today. Continue reading »
My First Baby Shower
I should actually title this Baby Blodgett’s first shower since technically it is the first one he’s attended and how lucky that he was the guest of honor. Last week I was so busy running around at Alt Summit that the last thing I was expecting was a baby shower. But my roommates Danni and Karen are extremely thoughtful and didn’t let the fact that they had to pack all the decorations and transform an ugly hotel room and squeeze everything into a tight schedule deter them. Honestly amazing. I felt loved and very fortunate to have made such great friends through blogging. I can hardly believe it either. Here are some photos from the sweet get together. I know, I’m past the point where I can pull off horizontal stripes. Continue reading »
A Fresh Nursery for Allegra
We just moved into our new house a week and a half ago so things are still a bit (or a lot) disorganized. That’s probably why I’m so attracted to clean spaces right now and it doesn’t get much more organized then Allegra’s nursery. I don’t know if I would dare go this white for a nursery but you must admit it looks very crisp. The bright white space accented by hints of color looks like it’s staged for a magazine. I love the open closet but wouldn’t trust myself to keep it so tidy. See more details below. Continue reading »
Baby Name Index
We haven’t added any names to our list of maybes for about three months even though I’m constantly on the hunt. One way I come across names is by keeping my ears perked when I come across moms of boys. Since I’m a blogger that means a lot of the names I hear are from other sites – think nursery tours and featured birth announcements and birthday parties. Do you find yourself doing the same thing? Well, the site On To Baby has compiled the names of the babies featured on their site into an easy to search index that is updated daily.
They say that hands down, the most popular girl’s name is Continue reading »
