I love the emotional connection you get from sifting through old photos.  Just one glance at a photo from a special time in your life and you’re instantly taken back.  Birth photography is a growing trend among photographers and it’s no surprise why.  The intimate moments shared during the birth of your baby are so precious that it’s natural to want to commemorate them in the best way possible.  Those pictures of will serve as a beautiful reminder of one of the most important days of your life.

A few weeks ago, my doctor suggested that we set an “end date” on which my baby will be induced if I haven’t gone into labor naturally.  Providing that I actually make it that far, my baby is scheduled to be induced on May 30, which is 2 weeks past my due date.  Considering that I’ve been hoping for natural childbirth during my entire pregnancy, I have a really hard time imagining having to go down the induction road. Trying to coax this baby out by walking!

Nope.  No baby yet.

Now that my due date has come and gone, I can’t help but find myself giggling at the phone calls, facebook messages, text messages, etc. asking me, is there a baby yet?  Everyone is on pins and needles.  After 9 months of anticipation, everyone is just so excited to see those first pictures of our little bundle and who can blame them?  I’m trying to enjoy every minute of my day, thinking about this baby and when he will decide it’s time.  But there’s definitely a difference between excitement and the constant reminder that you’re overdue.

A full moon has been said to cause a wide range of things from a rise in odd events, higher tides and good luck but does a full moon also mean there will be more babies born?  Maternity nurses and doctors often comment that there’s a surge in new births during a full moon.  Some even say that labor and delivery wards and ERs will staff more people on nights of a full moon just out of precaution.  But will tonight’s full moon really cause more babies to be born or is this just an old wives tale?  Read on to find out more. Here I am - 40 weeks pregnant and ready for the baby to arrive!

Today I’m officially 40 weeks pregnant.  My baby is due today.  And as much as I’ve tried to ignore my due date, there’s no question what’s on my mind.  Last month I wrote about what I wasn’t going to miss about being pregnant, yet despite how tired I am of feeling huge, waddling when I walk and bearing with aching hips, I can’t help but reflect on the things that I will actually miss once I’m not pregnant anymore.
