baby071 300x300 10 Best Baby Products for the Least Amount of MoneyA few weeks ago I wrote a post about the coolest new baby gear on the market, and many readers wanted to see baby gear at affordable prices.

So here you go.

Here are 10 baby products you’re probably thinking about buying — from a crib to a play mat — and the best options for the least amount of money.

In fact, I’d choose most of these over their pricey competitors:

Go-Pod, $55
Most parents will tell you that an activity center (or exersaucer) is a must-have between the ages of 4 and 6 months — giving mom's arms a break while allowing baby to play solo. Yet most of them are so expensive — and so ugly. I like this Go-Pod because 1) it's not an eye sore, 2) you can attach favorite toys, and 3) it's fully collapsable and portable, perfect for using outdoors or on trips.
Buy from Giggle.

I would not call some of these things “Cheap”. They are those items you just have to suck up and buy.

LOVE the idea of the Go-Pod. We had an Exersaucer for our first, and that thing was a bulky, ugly, noisy piece of crap. Thanks for the alternative!

Ikea products are maybe cheaper, but they look cheap too.

That high chair has been recalled according to Ikea’s Web site.

Georgette commented on Jan 31 12 at 2:23 pm

Nope, only those between 2006 and 2010.

@Margo: I would definitely disagree with you on this. Baby gear is used for such a short amount of time, and IKEA has a very modern look for something that’s so inexpensive. It might not be crafted to pass down through the generations, but it lasts for as long as you need it.

I have the IKEA baby gym and my daughter LOVES it. We originally had a bigger, more expensive one and she hared it, this one she can’t get enough of.

The Antilop High Chair is on the Product Recall list on ikea.com !!!!!

I have a 2011 City Mini and love it!! However, I wouldn’t say it’s the ONLY stroller you need to buy. True enough it’s lightweight but it takes up a lot of room width wise in my crv. Also, sometimes it hard to manuever in store aisles. I’m currently looking for a true umbrella stroller for quick trips to the mall and such.

Just a clarification on the Antilop high chair–it is on the Ikea recall list because of the hundreds of thousands of chairs sold in the US alone during the five year period indicated, SEVEN buckles *worldwide* did not function properly. If you call the number on the Ikea website they will send you a brand new belt and buckle free of charge–we got ours within a few days of calling. (We also have the baby gym and it is one of my son’s favorite toys.)

My son had the infantino play gym and absolutely loved it. He was so easy to roll up and transport. We’re saving it for our next little one!

Ginette commented on Feb 08 12 at 4:09 pm

Except for the Infantino Gym and the Baby Jogger, the rest of it looks like cheap, ugly foreign-made stuff. Sorry but I will find the more stylish, colorful stuff cheap at consignments and flea markets.
