pregnancy brain 300x204 Readers Respond: Whats the Craziest Thing Pregnancy Brain Made You Do?

You might have heard of it, or you might be one of the lucky ones to have experienced it first-hand. “Pregnancy brain” can make you do some funny and crazy things.

I think it stems from a combination of hormones doing funny things to the body and your body being tired from, you know, growing a human. It makes me tired just thinking of doing that all again. Pregnancy brain hit me each time I was pregnant. I am normally a very organized person and I found that I was forgetting things, losing things, and generally not feeling like myself.

We asked Babble readers about the craziest things they did while under the pregnancy brain influence. I found myself nodding to many of the responses — I’ve done many of the same things!

I think pregnancy brain is just another excuse we make for random things we don’t normally do. I have gone into a store and forgot what I was looking for. I have put the butter away in the cabinet and the peanut butter in the fridge! So instead of thinking about what we have done while pregnant, what about just random things we do at any given time!

Uh oh… I did most of these things BEFORE I was pregnant… one can only wonder what’s to come now… maybe pregnancy will fix my brain? lol

I took my 2 year old’s jacket and hung it on the sideview mirror while I put him in the carseat, and found it still hanging there (luckily) when I reached my destination. I also often forget what I am saying as it comes out of my mouth which leads to some very awkward silences…

I worried all day at work that I forgot to lock the backdoor of my house. I returned home at the end of the day to find that I not only didn’t lock it but left it wide open. In winter. Thankfully the dog didn’t run away.

I always had my pregnancy appointments in the morning before I went to work… one time after the appointment I started to drive home instead of to work… I was at the 2nd to last turn from my house when I realized… what this wasn’t where I was suppose to go.

So far this pregnancy I have gone to the grocery store, picked up my items and been in line to pay before I realized I had forgotten my wallet…put 2 contacts in the same eye while trying to figure out where on earth the other one had gotten to…and almost forgotten to pick my daughter up from preschool, even though I was already there picking my son up from his class on the floor above! Ugh, and I still have 2 1/2 months to go. No telling what I will do next!

I left the back door completely open and left the house for the afternoon. Thankfully, no one took the presents from under the tree! (I’m in SC, it was warm that day). I put soap on my toothbrush instead of tooth paste…I do not recommend this! …there are more…I don’t think there’s enough room. :)

Oh…and I locked the keys in the car just last week!

I asked my husband to bring some Archway lemon cookies (my craving) home from work. He thought I was eating too much fat/sugar so he bought a healthy lemon sorbet. I yelled, “These are not lemon cookies” and promptly removed him from the list of those who could be present during the baby’s birth. I did come to my self and put him back on, after I got those cookies! :)

I keep forgetting what I’m supposed to be doing. Say I have a very busy week ahead of me I’ll get the days all mixed up and end up somewhere I shouldn’t be until like 3 days later. I’ve also walked into a room, forgot what I was going in there for then left the room remembered then forgot as soon as i walked back into the room. That happens to me all the time. I also seem to be getting my twins mixed up (and normally i NEVER do that) I have to rely on my husband at the store otherwise I would have no idea why I was there or what i was supposed to be getting. If he wasn’t with me I would probably come home with a car full of fruit and be like “what?” :D

While on the phone with my husband, I got frustrated because I could not find my cell phone. We were on the phone for roughly 20 minutes, and the entire time I was tearing the house apart looking for it. Finally I asked him to call it so I could hear it ring and find it that way. He then told me that I was talking to him on it which made me even more mad so I hung up and started crying.

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I went to my dr appointment and found out that I wasn’t going to even be seeing my doctor. I was mad-my first pregancey ended in a miscriage-I left the office crying. Then when my husband and I got home, he left to go to work. He called me to try and make me feel better and was telling me about someone else who was pregnant, I broke my phone in half. I hated it when he compared me to other pregnances while I was pregnant. Then, right after I had my daughter, I had put the frozen walfes in the cabent behind the toaster. Didn’t find it tell two months later.
