7 Adorable Ways to Share Your Pregnancy News at Thanksgiving Dinner
I love getting together with family over the holidays. Although as a Canadian we celebrated our Thanksgiving last month, growing up we often celebrated both the US and Canadian dates for Thanksgiving. My mom is American born and so celebrating both dates was just something we did.
One of the best things about the holidays is families come together and with that leaves the perfect opportunity to tell everyone at once if you are expecting. Getting a whole group reaction can be extremely fun and then you don’t need to make a million different phone calls to let everyone know.
Click through for some adorable ideas on how to share your pregnancy news over Thanksgiving dinner:
Wear a T-Shirt: There are some really creative t-shirts specifically for pregnant women at Thanksgiving. Wear one to dinner and see who notices it first. For some ideas click over to Hilarious Thanksgiving Maternity Tees You Can Wear To Grandma’s House
Dress Your Child: If you are going to be a second/third etc time mom dress up your kid(s) with t-shirts sharing they are going to have another sibling around. For some ideas click over to Attention! Shirts that make BIG announcements
Bring in Dessert: If you are in charge of bringing dessert, whether it be a pie or a cake, decorate with pink and blue sprinkles and some baby items.
Put an Extra Place Setting: Put down an extra place setting next to you and see if anyone notices why. If you’re not hosting this year – casually say that hopefully there is room to grow next year because you are.
I’m Thankful Game: If your family likes to share what they are thankful for before starting dinner be sure to say that you are thankful for becoming a mother – they will get it right away.
Drop the Hints: Hanging out with your family just start causally dropping hints. Mention you wonder how big you will be at Christmas or wondering if you will be able to keep up with everyone next year or mention that you are going to miss the egg nog at Christmas this year. See who figures it out.
Bring Ultrasound Photo/Pregnancy Test: If you have your first ultrasound photo already or have one of your pregnancy tests saved bring them along with you and casually place them in the washroom. The first one who goes in will come out screaming in happiness.

Roslynn commented on Nov 19 11 at 10:37 amWe are planning on announcing at Thanksgiving dinner! I’m so excited! We have a “Big Brother” shirt for our son, but my husband says I should blurt “I’mpregnantpleasepassthepotatoes”! LOL! I was hoping more along the lines of “We’ll need an extra seat next year”. :) We’re already crammed in, so if the subject comes up, it will be the perfect moment! :D
Mommyto3 commented on Nov 20 11 at 2:16 amSo I was going to surprise my family by putting a “big brother” shirt on our son Thanksgiving two years ago. I found the perfect shirt from Gap and stored it, tags still on in the back of my son’s closet. This was going to be the perfect time to tell my family because I would be 12 weeks along and could show a sono pic. (We experienced a molar pregnancy before this one that resulted in chemo treatments making my parents a total wreck, so we wanted solid proof before springing the news on them to hopefully save them some stress.) So I was working out of town mid October and my parents wanted to keep the kids, so my hubby packed them up and dropped them off. When I returned later that week of course the kids bag from their overnight stay with my parents was on the floor still waiting to be unpacked. As I unpacked it to my horror I pulled out the “big brother” shirt which had been obviously washed and folded (my mom never sends home dirty clothes). When I raced to my husband eyes wide with the shirt in my hand, he lost his color and was like, “Oh geez, I didn’t realize that was the big brother shirt.” I wanted to shoot him!! So yeah, our surprise was ruined :\..MEN!
