To Bumper or Not to Bumper? These Styles are Tempting!

The below styles are high on the temptation list. Very high. Streamlined and super cute, I’m finding a bumper pad like one of these simple and sweet (and mostly European) designs very hard to steer clear of.
Last time around, my husband made the bedding (well, at least the sheets) for our baby’s nursery since I couldn’t find anything in the color I wanted. He’s a champ. I found a cute ricrac crib skirt at Pottery Barn, and we decided to forgo a bumper until our baby got a little older. This was a hard choice since they’re one of the funnest parts of crib decor.But first of all, he wouldn’t be rolling around and needing it anytime soon after birth, and second of all, I wanted to take a little caution with the SIDS warnings I read about.
When he got older, maybe around 9 months, and he started burrowing into the corners of his crib like a little groundhog, we bought a very basic and streamlined bumper from Koala Baby for just $30. It’s done the job and I like that it’s not too billowy, which made me feel better about potential smothering.
Now two-and-a-half and still in a crib, he’s come to love that bumper more and more. And many times, I wish I had a nice, billowy one for him to really sink his head into. I think this time around, I’m going to stick with a not-too-fluffy type again. And these are the ones calling my name … or my baby’s. Of course, they’re nearly all European and probably a little harder to get my hands on. But hopefully not too hard. I really love their pared-down but still graphic and sweet designs.
