Try your hand at some serious DIY.

The nesting impulse makes some women want to get everything nice and clean. I, on the other hand, choose to make messes. As the third trimester nears, my project list spans the circumference of my enormous belly.

My newest addition(s) come from a fun site I stumbled upon the other day called DIY Maternity where Megan and other bloggers are sharing their I-did-it-myself ideas—anything from homemade nursing pads or a belly band to maternity trouser pants.

I can’t believe some of this stuff is homemade. I’m not sure I’d make it past the belly band, but these designs make me want to try. If nesting makes you crafty (or if you’re simply having trouble finding things that fit well and you have a sewing machine), here are a few of my favorite ideas from the site.

“Turn About the Room Dress”
With an excellent choice of fabric and interesting design, I would expect to pick up this little pretty at a high-end boutique or department store.
