10 Nursery Ideas for Your Baby’s Room
If you’re in the midst of planning your baby’s nursery, the possibilities are endless. And with so many blogs, Etsy stores and baby boutiques, you might feel a bit overwhelmed.
We compiled 10 of our favorite nursery themes and ideas to perhaps spark some inspiration for the “feel” of your baby nursery.
Take a look:
1. Dark walls (with pops of white)
This baby room (found here) is quite popular in the blogosphere for its untraditionally dark walls, trendy and chic grey crib and bright white accents. A perfect example of how dark grey walls can work.
2. White walls (with pops of bright color)
On the opposite end of the spectrum, this kids room is a great example of how white walls and a bright pop of color can look so clean and vibrant. A good solution for renters who don’t want to experiment with paint colors.
3. Striped walls
Feel like your baby’s room is a little…boring? Adding some stripes to the walls can jazz up the space. Contrary to what you might think, stripes are actually a good tool for small rooms because they give the eye something to focus on. If you’re into stripes, we really love these striped “wall paper” decals.
4. Striped ceiling
Or how about putting some stripes on the ceiling? This is actually the nursery of J.Crew’s creative director, Jenna Lyon, who knows a thing or two about style. [via]
5. Antique Modern
I adore this baby nursery from Lay Baby Lay, which has hints of both antique and modern elements. The light aqua, pink and gilded gold really add an antique feel. The best part? She gives tutorials on her blog for certain elements in this nursery, like the name bunting, monogrammed valance and frames.
6. Vintage Simplicity
If you want a vintage feel for your nursery, red and blue are always an effective choice. See more pictures of this vintage-looking nursery here.
7. DIY Crafty Charm
This nursery by Amanda Kingloff, an editor at Parents magazine, is largely made with DIY craft projects. See all of her incredible ideas at Parents magazine.
8. Bright and Cheery
Ah, I love this one. The bright yellow and crisp white create such an inviting, happy space that’s undeniably feminine without overloading on pink. I especially love the scalloped border. It’s small details like that which really tie a room together.
9. Calm and Peaceful
Here’s an example of how cool grey and white can create such a serene space.
10. Small and Cozy
You don’t need a ton of space to create a killer baby room. This room, in fact, is a shared by three siblings, and the parents certainly make it work. The vibrant turquoise and orange isn’t something I would have come up with on my own, but I love the way they look together. (See that picture on the wall? We featured more of that Etsy shop here!)

For example, I want a nautical theme, but should it be modern, vintage, calming, etc?? They are all very different.
Much better to start with one of your ideas then let the other things fall into place!
