n503266346 663881 441 300x225 5 Products That Will Save a New Mom Her Sanity! There are so many products on the market today, and all the companies will tell you that you need their product, especially if you are a first time mother!   I bought into all of it when I had my oldest son in 2007… and I wish I would have had the advice of myself now… looking back.

Now going on to our third child after getting rid of most of our gear after number two grew out of it, there are a ton of things I knew I could skip on this time around… and a couple things I went out of my way to track down again knowing I could not keep my sanity with a newborn, a two year old, and a three and a half year old without.

I wanted to share my seasoned opinion, and advice with those new mothers out there to help keep your own sanity!

1. The Boppy Newborn Lounger – Let me tell you… If I didn’t have this for the first couple months of my oldest son’s life, before he outgrew it… I don’t know what I would have done. It helped me get things done, shower, relax, recover from my c-section in bed while watching the little one, everything. I could have never done it without the pillow. When my second son came, we didn’t use it and looking back I wished that we did!  I am still wondering where the heck it went during our move?
This pregnancy, I scouted all over and finally found it Friday night and bought it on the spot.  Anything to keep things simple this time around!

2. A Swing!!!! – With  my Owl theme, I was excited to find a great deal on the Woodland Creatures swing, since my youngest son killed the motor in our last swing. My husband, who has a background in electronics couldn’t even fix the motor. I guess we just used it way too much!  But the swing was heaven sent!

3. Glider – Man, if I could remember how many nights I fell asleep myself in the glider after finally getting a baby to sleep… I found out quickly when our second child came into play that sometimes co-sleeping just doesn’t work.  We co-slept with our oldest son, and our second simply wanted no part of it, heck, he didn’t want any part of sleeping in general. A nice comfy glider is always the answer, I promise!

4. Infant Bouncer – One of the ones that you can drag into the bathroom when you shower, or throw in the trunk of the car to go.

5. Baby Carrier – Something you can wear!  Baby wearing saved my sanity so many days. Especially with my oldest son who loved to be held all the time.

Those were my big savers!   What were some of your must have – will save your sanity baby products?

Thanks for this! As a (soon to be) first time mom I will take these suggestions when setting up the registry. Always good to be able to separate the useful from the fluff. Congrats on baby #3!

While every baby is different, those are some good recommendations for new moms. With my oldest the walker and the bouncy, which hung from the ceiling, were wonderful. With my youngest, the pacifier and the swing worked wonders. My son would never take a binky and my daughter hated the boucy. But, it’s good to have these things on hand to try and to see what works for each baby.

Mine are her Bouncy Seat by Fisher Price its the Precious Plant style with the lights , shes loves it , Next would be the Avent Bottles I tryed several different bottles and the only brands she liked where Avent and Pampers stages ( which are hard to find in my city) . Also she cant rest without her Binky . Something I found at my local store is called the Boppy Newborn Nest , Love it .and then I would have to say the Halo Sleep Sacks . I got my first 1 from the hospital as a gift I fell in love with them , and so did my daughter . While they are expencive they are well worth it to know your putting your baby to sleep safely .

I swear by the Dr Browns bottle,my baby had refux and it helped a lot. I also loved the swaddle me swaddle sacks. Blankets work great, but the swaddle sacks are priceless!

I can relate to this post. There are several things I could have done without but the things that helped the most were:
1. Swing- help put baby to sleep and not to mention helped me have my lunches
2. Boppy- I breastfed and this helped with back support and also for visitors like great grandma to sit and carry him.
3. Just found the most wonderful tub called the primo ($25 at babies r us) wished I had this from birth because it grows with baby from birth to age 2. My son at 6 months has outgrown regular sized tubs and this one is just right for him to play in.
4. Tommee Tippee’s electic bottle sterilizer- saved me time from boiling them and never really trusted microwavables. Just set it and forget it.
5. Bouncer- still using for when I take my showers.

1. Playard. Our son slept in it the first 4 months in our bedroom instead of a cradle or bassinet. We will continue to use it in the playpen fashion as he gets older.
2. Boppy pillow. I used for nursing or him sleeping in my lap. It keeps both hands free to do other things. My son is 5 months and I still use it, wish I had one for upstairs as well so I wouldn’t have to hall it up and downstairs with baby.
3. Woombie houdini swaddle. My son could get out of ANY swaddle no matter how tight. This one kept him snug and helped him to sleep (mostly) throught the night.
4. Infant baby carrier (ergo carrier is my favorite-more comfortable and you can use it longer). I took him black friday shopping when he was a month old and it would not have been manageable any other way.
5. Bouncer. Can be packed up easy, carried from room to room. A life saver for us to use before he can sit up.
6. Piano crib toy (the one with all the jungle animals at babys r us). The music keeps him entertained so I can do other things and he LOVES to kick it with his feet. Each key has a different note that plays a different song. It’s fun for us to play with him with it too.

I couldn’t live without my Itzbeen. I have my hands full with my toddler so when the baby came home it was so easy to have a gadget that kept track of everything for me (especially those middle of night feedings when I am too fuzzy headed to remember the last time I nursed-or which side- or when the diaper was changed). They are pricy, but I highly recommend it to help keep your sanity!
