The Baby In My Belly Hiccups

hiccup 199x300 The Baby In My Belly HiccupsLaying in bed last night, in an insomniac state watching mindless tv, I felt it.

*hiccup*

The baby hiccuped.

It was surreal and something I have treasured with the 3 pregnancies prior to this one. While last nights episode only lasted for a few minutes, it made my weekend complete.

The rhythmatic bumping of my belly, feeling my baby do something so innocent and natural, I couldn’t help but smile thinking of the day – I’ll be holding him or her and *hiccup* but then it will be outside of my belly.

Not soon enough. Until then, keep hiccuping baby Quatro.

Well, mine is still in there and it’s my first, but this baby gives me a good, swift kick every single time I sneeze or cough, regardless if it’s been quiet until that moment. Yes, mommy sneezes. Deal with it!

My first son was quite active in utero but I never felt him have hiccups, not even one time. In his 19 months on the outside, he’s had hiccups maybe twice in his life. I’m carrying his little brother now and he gets hiccups a bunch. I wonder if he’ll get them frequently when he’s on the outside…
