Being Pregnant
Nursery Progress… Owl Show Off
I have been nesting, and shopping, and nesting some more… and spending some more money… and I am surprised my husband hasn’t robbed me of my debit card at this point.
But I am super proud of all I have gotten done in the past two months since I started the owl nursery project. To the left is the first picture I took of our spare bedroom before I started to turn it into the nursery for our daughter.
It has not been easy, and some days I wonder how I have done so much, and better yet… when will it finally be finished?! (Lots O Pics behind the cut…)
But today, I really feel like I hit a milestone, so I wanted to share some pictures, with captions, about the different stages the nursery has gone through since I started. You will see as the time line goes along… sometimes progress did not look like progress at all… more like a giant train wreck at some points!
This was the first picture I took as I started to get rid of things, move stuff, and try to get organized…
All the gear I had got at that point… and of course our cat Pesky hiding while I was trying to work on stuff…
Then my husband started nesting and built the crib, and in the same night put up some of the wall decorations in the same night…
And by the end of the night, this is what it looked like…
Then came the disaster… UPS deliveries, FedEx guy dropping stuff off, and then my trip to Ikea that will go down in history as a comical moment of shopping… I guess you had to be there! But this is what the room started to look like… 10 steps forward, only go go 30 steps back… Until this past weekend when I got a little fire in my pants…
I told myself I would step away from blogging, returning e-mails, and try to get some stuff done in my downtime that wasn’t work related…
And yesterday, I was able to take some pictures of the progress I had made, which made the room itself feel like a whole new place! Some of the pictures below are from yesterday also…
Some of the wall art… my measuring tape, and a small shadow box I made.
I feel like it is a new room… but I still have a ton I need to do… Curtains need to come down off the window, and new ones need to go up. The fabric wall covering for in front of the closet doors needs to go up… The dresser and storage cubical need to be built, the rest of the wall art has to go up on the other side of the room… mirror needs to be mounted, and I need to find a cover, or find someone who can sew and re-cover the glider.
I keep telling myself… 9 weeks, 61 days… and the pressure is on!

I am an avid fan (not involved in any other way) of Molly the Owl. So, I would offer the following advice – Don’t forget to buy a copy of Molly the Owl, a wonderful children’s book with magical illustrations. Read this review in the Sacramento Bee.

You can also get some soft owl puppets to play with on Molly the Owl Books.

Molly’s Motto is “Gee this is fun and I am a part of it!” Good reminder to start each moment with a positive, fun and grateful spirit! Many first time mothers also enjoyed watching Molly and McGee raise two clutches of owlets in 2010. There is a chance to watch more owls in 2011. I personally think the Oceanside Owl camera is the best one – it has g-rated moderated friendly and educational chat, and is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for those nights when you or your baby can’t sleep! It is free, too.
