Being Pregnant
The McRib and My McPregnancy Craving…
I think we all need to take a step back sometimes in our pregnancy and realize when we made a critical food craving mistake, and last night was that time for me. Knowing my husband would be at his company Christmas party until around 9, I knew I was on my own for dinner and took it as an opportunity to be the cool mom and treat the kids to some crap fast food.
Who doesn’t like a happy meal when Daddy isn’t going to be around to bring the 5 o’clock smiles?
So McDonald’s it was. I was going to get my typical chicken nuggets, with sweet and sour sauce, but when I pulled into the parking lot and saw the advertisement exclaiming “The McRib is back!!” I couldn’t McResist it.
Boy did I make a McMistake!
I dove into it like a teenage boy who had not eaten all day long, and within two bites, I was done. Finished. Grossed out. The barbecue sauce had fooled me, and the mystery meat sent me straight for the bathroom praying I didn’t throw the small bit I had indulged in right back up. Thankfully I kept it down like a champ. I am still trying to decide if that is a good or bad thing though.
This was the first craving I have had this pregnancy that turned out to be truly horrible, but I guess I can’t really blame anyone but myself. Seriously, what about a McRib actually sounds appealing?
So ladies, spill! What was your worst pregnancy craving… you know the one you regret till this day!

Jenna commented on Dec 17 10 at 10:59 pmHaha, mine was McDonalds too! I hadn’t eaten McDonalds in years and one night when I was pregnant I had this craving for a Big Mac that was downright unreal. I was STARVING and had a buy one-get one coupon so I got two and downed them like it was my job.
And then I spent the whole night vomiting while listening to my husband ask “Seriously… how did you not know this was how it would end?”

Amanda commented on Mar 02 11 at 7:23 pmFresh strawberries. I’m sure you can imagine what that looked like coming back up.
Heather commented on Mar 06 11 at 2:00 pmWhen I first found out I was pregnant, my husband and I went out to eat and I got a seaood ravioli in a garlic cream sauce. It was pretty good, especially the sauce. However, 20 minutes later, I had my first of only two, so far (I’m 29 weeks now), food related sickness. It was the worst exerience ever! Needless to say, I doubt I will ever eat that, maybe even at the restaurant, again.
Missy commented on Mar 06 11 at 5:58 pmGrilled peanut butter sandwiches. Made just like grilled cheese, but I had to watch the amount of peanut butter because the first one was a gooey mess. I went easy on buttering the bread too, so I didn’t have a problem with keeping it down.
Jennifer commented on Nov 08 11 at 4:33 pmSo far, a blueberry bagel with cream cheese has been the worst thing that I have indulged in. Wasn’t really a craving, but after my sickness, I certainly won’t be eating another during this pregnancy, if ever again!
The grilled peanut butter sandwiches comment gave me a little laugh. I got all the ingredients to make grilled sandwiches with cream cheese and jelly, but I never got industrious enough to try them, and just around the time my morning sickness started to wane it became pretty obvious that I still wasn’t going to be able to eat very many “sweet” things for a long time to come.
