This week I came across a post right here on Babble, over on Family Style about new, sexy, lingerie for pregnant women. My initial thoughts focused around the nice looks, and ways to spice things up when pregnant. Let’s face it, the typical maternity clothes, and bra’s are nothing to do a double take at!

But then I really started thinking about the concept and comfort levels of a pregnant woman. I am not sure about the other preggos out there, but for me, it is like pulling teeth to get me to even wear a bra or underwear during pregnancy because I find them so incredibly uncomfortable in general. Why would I want to go out and spend money on the fancy stuff to torture myself wearing it?

So my husband can gauche at me for his pleasure, while in the back of my mind I continue to have a negative body image of my big, round pregnant belly?

I am sure there are tons of women out there who may totally be into this, and more power to them, and their husbands. But for me this would be nothing short of torture, kind of like that damn glucose test for gestational diabetes, or better yet, a flu shot! Haha

If this was something I would be into, there are some super cute designs, and bed clothing too, maybe I will give some of their designs a try when I am no longer feeling unsexy.

Who is with me?

I’ve gotta admit, I love it. It’s not something I wore a lot during my pregnancies, especially during the final months when I was HUGE. But during the first six months, I appreciated the fact that sexy maternity lingerie was around b/c I felt like celebrating my new curves. My hubby agreed!

Who knows, maybe the designers kept comfort in mind in making cute yet comfortable lingerie for pregnant women… I know for me it’s easy enough to feel blah and unsexy while pregnant, it’d be nice to have the option to put on something that helped you feel a bit cuter/sexier.

big round belly and all I didn’t have a poor body image while pregnant and I’m sure there are tons of other women who don’t. pregnancy is a beautiful time so why not go through it like you would any other time; with sexy lingerie. I squeezed into my regular stuff as long as I could.

I think part of the point though, is that most women also feel unsexy- and putting on something pretty helps improve those feelings about yourself. A pregnant body is beautiful, and should be celebrated and appreciated. I think that this lingerie is trying to foster that. And if its uncomfortable, isn’t it only on for a short time anyway? ;)

I’m all about the cuter to look at maternity unmentionables, like Cake Lingerie. I, however, do not buy into maternity lingerie that is supposed to make your man wanna do you. Like “Hey, big boy, come do this hot moo cow.” I’m going with no.

I think it’s that photo that’s is bothering you. I found some really cute ones at Tummystyle.com that aren’t so wild but still tastefull. http://tummystyle.com/category/Passion-Spice-Sexy-Nursing-Bras-Maternity-Lingerie~114.html There’s no cape and tiger with the outfit!

Gauche: I do not think that word means what you think it means. LOL.

I bought tons of lingerie when I was pregnant. I think it’s a great idea! I’ve never felt sexier in my life…or been more interested in jumping my husband daily. ;) For some women, pregnancy means letting go of the inhibition of contraception. No contraceptive worries translates to a certain special kind of freedom. ;) And I got clobbered by the boobie fairie. ;) My husband was charmed and enchanted by my curves and my belly. Go figure. ;)

I tested a bunch of maternity lingerie for our big Best Maternity Bras feature on Babble.com, and the HOTMilk ones were by far the most comfortable. Also Cake Lingerie. I often feature them here on Being Pregnant because they’re pretty AND supportive. You can see the whole feature here: http://www.babble.com/products/pregnancy-products/best-maternity-bra-nursing/
