Babys First Year Blog
It’s been more than a week since Tate took his first steps. He was in the kitchen, standing like a puppy begging for scraps at the refrigerator. Sitting a few feet away, I offered him a piece of strawberry, and just like that he took 3 steps because he was down with having a strawberry snack.
It’s been a slow development, but he gets more confident every day.

After spotting a beautiful handmade teething necklace on Pinterest, I just had to chase one down for myself. I found the source, Freja Toys, and was delighted with the fun selection of toys and jewelry. I just had to get a few teething necklaces and I adore them. They are bright, textural, and a constant focus of Tate’s interest.
I wanted to share the best of the hand knit and crochet rattles, dolls, animals, and jewelry.

Tate’s got a thing for cold stuff. He hurries as fast as his crawl can take him to stand next to the opened freezer. He loves to drink cold water. And he loooooves ice. Loves it. He would suck on a piece all day if it lasted that long or if he could figure out how to keep the slippery stuff in his grasp.

We went camping over Easter Weekend. In my experience, camping involves hoodies, beanies, and hiking boots. But apparently in Texas, camping is all about lounging by a body of water. And thank goodness it is – temperatures here have already reached above 90 degrees.
It was so much fun for us to play with Tate in the the lake. The last time we went to the beach, Tate spent most of the trip asleep in his car seat.

As a parent, it’s easy to get a ahead of myself on the baby’s firsts. We were overly excited to see Tate stare at presents and try to eat wrapping paper on Christmas. We were overjoyed to dress him up as a turtle on Halloween when he was oblivious to every part of the exercise but the hat strapped to his head.

Early on in Tate’s life, he morphed into a momma’s boy. This should really come as no surprise, as I was his only source of food and spent all day (every day) with him. He went through a short phase of seeking me out and following me with his eyes every time Steve held him. But as Tate continues to grow, one thing is certain, he’s something of a Daddy’s boy.
He whimpers when Steve leaves for work, and flaps his hands and smiles when he gets home. He follows Steve around the house like a puppy all evening long. He will sit at the base of the closed door separating them until Steve comes to get him. Continue reading »
