They make me happy when skies are grey.
Well, well, well. It would seem that I am not immune to postpartum depression.
As a matter of fact, it appears that PPD has decided I would make a great host for it to settle into for awhile.
Frankly, it sucks.
The self doubt.
The feeling that I’m not doing enough.
The tears.

Last night a friend of my husband’s stopped by for a visit. It was the first time I had seen him since I gave birth to Huggy Baby.
We chatted about parenting and all the stuff that goes along with having a newborn to care for.
Including diapers.
Imagine my surprise when he told me that in all the years that his daughter was in diapers he changed perhaps two or three.

During the first couple of weeks at home after giving birth to Huggy Baby our doorbell would ring every few days. On the other side of the door was a delivery person dropping off a package or two for Huggy Baby and I.
There was no baby shower with Huggy Baby—the gifts came in cardboard boxes directly to our door thanks to the kindness of friends and family.
And although he helped me open every one of those packages, my four-year-old wanted so badly for one of those boxes to be for him.

There is a side effect to breastfeeding that I had completely forgotten about—I’m thirsty all the time.
Not just a little thirsty either. More like an I could drink a lake right now sort of thirsty.
The worst part about it? I’m terrible at drinking enough fluids throughout the day. It’s not that I don’t know I’m thirsty and should be drinking more water, it’s just that I don’t really think about it during the day. Next thing I know, the day is over and my coffee intake has far outweighed my water intake. And I’m really not drinking that much coffee at this point. Continue reading »
I'm going to miss you baby.
Today was the day.
For months now I’ve known it was coming and pleaded with the passing of time to just slow down a little. But time waits for no one and it certainly wasn’t listening to me. If it was? Today wouldn’t have shown up so fast.
Wasn’t I just giving birth to Huggy Baby like a day ago?
How could my maternity leave be over already?
How could today be the day that I would have to return to work full-time?
