A year already?

Twelve whole months.

In eleven days my daughter will be an entire year old. This past year has completely flown by and I have no idea how I am the mother of a year old child. One side of me is happy my little girl is making all of her milestones and the other part of me is heartbroken because she is our last baby and we won’t be doing through this process of parenting again.

Earlier this week I posted something called 25 Things I Bet You Didn’t Know About Me, which included all kinds of random personal facts and some about my family too. One such fact had to do with religion.

I am Mormon.

Shocking, huh? I knew that you all would be surprised because of the “colorful” language in some of my posts and, of course, my absolute love for wine. And there was a time in my life I was far more mild in my vocabulary and drinking wine was nonexistent but… well, I didn’t really care for it.

Nothing is Free in life!

Before I get started with my post I want to share a simple fact. While I am a breastfeeding mother, both of my older children were formula fed. One from 5 weeks old on and the other from roughly seven months on.

Now onto my post.

For years there has been lots of talk about taking free formula out of hospitals. Recently another push for this crusade has made it into the media spotlight. Lauren here on Baby’s First Year actually wrote a great post yesterday on her experience as a breastfeeding mother and the formula samples the hospitals give out. Continue reading »

What has been your battle?

When it comes to parenting – new parents have so many different choices to make from the get-go. Some do more research than others and some are more secure in the choices. It is just something that comes with the territory.

Some parents are very confident in the choices they have made for their children, but there is always that dreaded word that sends all those choices into a tizzy. F-A-M-I-L-Y!

I think we have all been there. Family questioning our decision, pushing us in the direction of choices they favor or want for some reason. I was lucky enough when I had my older children my mom didn’t really push in one way or another. Continue reading »
