The wooden baby spoon was way more exciting than posing for a photo.

Well my friends, the time has come for me to say goodbye.  Upon returning to work full time, I quickly realized that I just didn’t have the time to maintain three blogs, keep up my work load AND spend time with my most favorite little person in the entire world.  Quite honestly, I’m a little heartbroken to be leaving, as I’ve enjoyed sharing our journey with you so much.  I’ve had a wonderful 6 months blogging for Babble, first at Being Pregnant then Baby’s First Year and I hope that you continue to follow my journey with Wolf via my lifestyle blog, Unruly Things or my baby blog, Unruly Little Things.

Wolf has been on the upturn of the learning curve these past few weeks and all of a sudden, he’s not my tiny baby anymore.  He’s growing up and doing real kid stuff!  Like holding a glass {temporarily before dropping it into our hands}, laughing at his Dad, smiling on cue and wanting to sit up so badly.  He’s so full of life.  Sometimes when I watch him playing with a new toy I stop to think how truly amazing life is. When we first started talking about having a baby, my husband was still in school working on a master’s certificate.  We knew that if we wanted a baby any time soon, I’d be the one going back to work while he either stayed at home or we hired a nanny.

So when Wolf was born, I soaked in every millisecond of my maternity leave.  I hugged and kissed him and played with him every chance I got.  I wasn’t looking forward to the day that I had to go back to work but I know it was how our life had to be right now.  Of course I knew I’d miss Wolf but the thought never really occurred to me how much more I’d cherish my weekends.  Continue reading »

I'm four months old and as happy as can be!

Wolf turned 4 months old yesterday. That means he’s a third of a year old – yahoo!  He had his check-up today and everything was great. The doctor was proud of his milestones and so are we.

Wolf has developed so much since he was born.  He’s becoming a little person and I absolutely love everything thing about him.  He’s always happy, always smiling and always a joy to be around.  We often laugh as we look back to those first days with Wolf and how different we thought our lives were going to be.  They are different, but also still much the same.

When I was pregnant, I wrote endlessly about my love for stripes.  I wore stripes like they were going out of style while I flaunted my round belly around town.  I bought every cute striped thing for Wolf to stock his little closet.  I even made sure I had a few matching striped outfits for him and me.

This little guy caught his first cold.  We kept thinking that because he’s at home most of the day with Dad that maybe he’d luck out and not catch a baby cold.  But the poor kid is sick.  He’s got sniffles and a really sad dry cough.  Last night you could just tell he didn’t feel like his normal self.  Even play time wasn’t fun.  I rocked him to sleep in my arms and he slept all the way through the night.

This evening he acted like he felt much better.  He’s still got the sniffles and this cold has definitely pointed out how much he HATES the snot sucker. Continue reading »

Wolf rolled over from tummy to back about a month ago.  He did it three or four times in one tummy time session.  When his dad got home that day, I put Wolf down on the blanket and prepped him with a few assisted rolls to get him going again but nothing.  No half roll, no almost-there-help-me-mom roll, nothing.  And nothing since!

I’m excited for him to roll over again and he’s so darn close!  Some days I feel like he’s almost got it and other days I feel like he’s starting to enjoy tummy time more and more and likes to just hang out there.  When he’s on his back he kinda brings his knees up and rolls over to his side but he hasn’t quite gotten it that he can keep going on to his tummy yet.
