A Bizarre Postpartum Symptom
It has been two full months since I gave birth, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting any more postpartum surprises.
I’ve heard a lot of moms talk about experiencing hair loss postpartum, but I haven’t noticed any significant hair loss on my head.
That’s right, I said I haven’t noticed any hair loss on my head, but that doesn’t mean I am not experiencing some major hair loss in other areas!
Earlier this week, while shaving my underarms in the shower, I noticed something really funny. My once annoyingly hairy armpits are suddenly only sparsely speckled with hair. When I stopped to look even closer, I noticed very little hair at all! My armpits are actually smooth.
After this realization, I took a closer look at the rest of my body. Almost every area from my neck down is nearly hairless, and I can only assume that is hormone-related.
I am not complaining about this loss of body hair — in fact — it’s kind of nice!
Did you have any post partum hair loss, and did it concern you?

Also I noticed that during my pregnancy and a couple months after there wasn’t any hair on my legs. Of course now that we’ve crossed the 6 month mark its all back.

Sara commented on Feb 17 12 at 10:19 amYeah, don’t be sure you’re safe from head hair loss yet. I thought I was outta the woods, too. Then it started around the 3-month mark, and lasted about 6 weeks. Yuk.
Katy E commented on Feb 18 12 at 12:57 pmMine didn’t shed until I was 4 months post partum. About the same time that my waist came back… Because a girl can’t have it all. Luckily, the shed stopped around 6 months and started growing back in. My point is that 2 months is a little premature to claim that you missed out on the noggin hair shed. If you get to 6 months pp and you’ve still got it, by all means brag away.
guajolote commented on Feb 18 12 at 11:42 pmI started shedding after 12 weeks and kept it up till after 6 months pp. Ugh.
