7 Ways Online Communities Can Be Helpful to New Moms
A great way to find support!
Online communities have been around for what seems like ages now, but I didn’t really get involved in any mom communities until I was pregnant with my oldest son.
I dove into the due date message boards, the Cafemom groups and all the other boards you are essentially told you need to be a part of.
Here I am years later after my third child and I have given them up altogether. Sure they were helpful and sometimes hurtful but I just don’t have time to keep up anymore.
During the time that I was actually able to keep up I learned a lot though.
I wanted to dedicate two posts this week to these kinds of communities. One positives post… all the benefits of these communities. And then of course I would like to do the flip side as well.
I figured I had to start with the positive side of things first — because of course if I started with the negative I would be roasted immediately about not including the good right? Come on, its a fact of blogging!

Danielle625 commented on Feb 13 12 at 12:54 pm@Jen – Yes, I have two boys. THIS blog is called “Baby’s First Year” where we write about our children who are 12 months and under.
I write about my middle son on Toddler Times – as he is the toddler in our house. I also write about my oldest son there before
he turned 4, and was no longer considered a toddler.

Digital Mom commented on Feb 13 12 at 1:08 pmI am in the same boat as you Danielle. Even though I have 3 others, I don’t blog about them here – and in general – not near as much as Zekerz. I did try for a while to keep up on a family blog, but uhm that tends to go to the way side with all of my projects.
I do know someday, all of these posts will create a great digital baby book for our kiddos!
On the communities, I’ve joined a few – definitely feel with my first when I wasn’t juggling 3 others, I was able to find more of a connection. I know several friends though that have made such great connections online that I totally recommend to moms needing to be connected.
