On Dads And Daughters
This photo kills me. When I say that it kills me, of course, I mean that it makes my heart melt into a drippy puddle of love.
There is really little in this world that is sweeter than seeing your big, strong husband hold your tiny newborn daughter in his hands, and look into her eyes with all the adoration in the world.
Don’t get me wrong, my husband pretty much worships the ground that our son walks on, too. He always has. I am incredibly fortunate to be married to a man who is very emotionally present, and connected with his kids.
I can’t help but wonder how my husband’s relationship with our daughter will shift as the years go on. Will they be close? Will they have conflict when she becomes a teenager?
I’m sure that the future holds all sorts of surprises for us, and it is hard to tell how things will grow and change, but I can only hope that my husband always adores our little girl as much as he does in this moment, because it is truly one of the most beautiful things that I have ever seen.
Do you have a baby girl? Do you become a complete sap when you see your husband’s interactions with her?

jetts31 commented on Feb 02 12 at 10:40 amI’m a dad of two girls. 9 and 6. I’ve fallen over myself since the first moment I held them. I don’t know what their teenage years will bring but I’m hopeful, because of the relationship we have, that despite any conflicts (surely to come), the bond I have with my girls will stay strong. And if not, then I’ll just hide the car keys from them ;)
Alicia commented on Feb 02 12 at 11:03 amMy daughter and my husbanf have an amazing relationships. She has him wrapped around her little finger. I adore it. We have a son too and he adores him also but a father daughter relationship is very special. Seeing my husband have tea parties and play dolls is so sweet. I know he is enjoying every moment maybe even more than her.
souphead commented on Feb 02 12 at 12:57 pmwe have a 6 month old daughter and i’m lucky that my husband stays home with her. we (for no logical reason) always assumed we’d have a boy and i sensed some very slight disappointment in him when we found out it was going to be a girl. but i have never seen my husband so in love as he has been since the birth of our little girl. it’s such a beautiful thing to watch!

Christy commented on Feb 04 12 at 7:22 pmMy husband became a dad when we entered his life – A dad to an 11 year old and 16 month old, both girls. I melt whenever I watch him with his girls (as he calls them). They can do no wrong. The baby broke his laptop and takes over our bed and instead of getting angry, he just loves it! Over christmas, he left to go to the shops at 5 am to get another present for the elder daughter because she had one less than her younger sister :) I could gush on and on about the love he has for them …
