15 Awesomely Ugly Renaissance Babies
Have you ever been at an art museum or happened upon renaissance-era artwork and noticed the super creepiness of the children in the paintings? And it just gives me the shivers that almost all of these creepy babies are supposed to be baby Jesus (wait till you see all the various ways Jesus is painted as a creepy adult Benjamin Button looking baby)!
I don’t really care that it was tradition back then for the artist to portray himself in the face of the infant nor do I care to know why they made these babies look like tiny full grown men. The fact is, these creepy babies are downright hilarious!
The fantastic idea to collect ugly renaissance babies came from the Tumblr blog of the same name, tagline: THE KIDS ARE NOT ALRIGHT. They’ve allowed us to share some of their best curated pieces here with you – which do you think is the ugliest?
