Brand Loyal Because It Went Bad

vivis hair 198x300 Brand Loyal Because It Went BadBack in September I hosted a giveaway on Baby’s First Year for Dolphin Organics baby bath products. I have used them exclusively since last summer and will continue to for several different reasons. Obviously they have easy to read packaging that leaves no room for doubt that everything that goes into each bottle is natural and/or organic. Nothing man made, nothing fake. The company started after the owners dad passed away from cancer despite living a very healthy clean life when it came to what he put into his body. I do my best to put only the best in my baby so it stands to reason I would only put the best on the outside.

One of the biggest testimonies about the brand came when the bottle of baby shampoo I was using on Vivi actually went bad. “What? A bottle of $11 baby shampoo went bad and that makes you love the company more?

Yep, and here’s why.

First of all, things are supposed to go bad. Anyone who’s watched Super Size Me knows this. We’re supposed to eat things that mold, rot, shrivel and have an expiration date, those are the best things for your body. Not salad dressings that can survive months in the fridge or crackers that never lose their crunch. When Dolphin Organics says they don’t use man made preservatives, they mean it.

Regardless, I wrote to the company to make sure that this was “normal” and to be sure I hadn’t contaminated it in some way. Not only did they respond to me, they sent me a new bottle with a handwritten note from the owner apologizing and assuring me that such a thing does not happen often as they make their products in small batches to combat against such things and keep their product as fresh as possible.

Vivi hasn’t had any trouble with her skin or hair (and baby has a lot of hair) since using Dolphin Organics and just recently they earned the coveted honor of ranking as a 0-1 on the EWG’s Skin Deep Website, which means there is a trace amount, if any, of harmful substances in their products. (Johnson’s Baby Shampoo ranks as a 4. Boo.)

What started as a simple “Hey Casey, wondering if you’d like to try this new product on your baby.” has turned into genuine loyalty. I found myself lecturing my sister over the phone about the baby bath products she had registered for. Normally she’s the one lecturing me about chemicals, it was nice to finally teach her a thing or two this time around.

Needless to say my nephew will be getting a Dolphin Organics gift pack come March.

How did you know it went bad? I just got their lotion for first time & boy does it smell weird. I thought that was the organic smell but now I wonder if it’s a bad batch.

Hi Ana,
Even though our current line up of products are Fragrance Free each product still has an aroma. The aloe base is heavier in the lotion to allow for the creamy texture that soaks in nicely and hydrates without feeling greasy. However, the aloe aroma has been hit or miss with our customers. Because there has been a bit of discussion with regards to our lotion, we are currently considering re-balancing the extracts to reduce the smell that many parents are not taking to. In the meantime please allow me to send you a sample of our brand new simply citrus lotion which will launch in a couple of weeks. Email me at info@dolphinorganics.com
