Amazing IVF Story: Baby Born from Single Frozen Sperm

Amazing IVF Story: Baby Born from Single Frozen SpermI have said WOW about a thousand times while reading this story about a couple whose chances of having a baby of their own were slim to none. The Schiraldi’s, a healthy couple in the their early thirties,  tried to get pregnant for two years before discovering that the husband, Jason, had no sperm after a testicular biopsy.

Whereas most men have millions of viable sperm, the lab was only able to locate one living sperm in his sample. They froze the single sperm in the hopes of utilizing it for the couple. Soon after, they implanted it into one of Jason’s wife, Jennifer’s eggs. The chances of it dividing and growing into a healthy embryo was very small (most IVF efforts fertilize a dozen or more eggs in the hopes of having a few healthy embryo available for implantation. Many never divide at all).

Their one healthy embryo was implanted and 10 months later, their daughter Kenley Karlin was born in mid-April! I think it’s truly amazing when modern technology is able to give people like the Schiraldi’s a chance to experience the beauty of parenthood. They truly have a miracle baby to show for it! Lindsay- What the heck does God have to do with IVF? Praise the science and technology, and all the people who worked to create it, that made this possible for the couple.

I am so happy for them :)

I believe that is true “with God all things are possible” However people need to ber careful when they use the Lord when speaking about infertility. When I was struggling with infertility and people preached to me about God’s plan and his time I began to blame God. I was doing everything in my power so was my Doctor and staff and I struggled to hold onto my faith I started to believe he must be the only force keeping me from having a baby. I now believe he was so with me and didn’t want me to hurt but life isn’t perfect and no matter the final result I would have to be ok. I finally had peace. I do have a baby now and I know others who have been through the same even more and don’t. Every infertility story is just as much a miracle going to a RE reunion taught me that:)

You ask “what does God have to do with it”?

If not for the breath of life from God, science means nothing and makes nothing.

Sally – God has everything to do with IVF. His creation is the basis from with science and technology emerge. Nothing can happen apart from him. The more science uncovers, the more it points back to God, if we are humble enough to admit it.

Well put Emily! Stefanie I’m sorry you took people tasteless comments out on your faith in god. I had a stillbirth two years ago and had may ignorant comments. People want to fix something they can’t. I have never felt closer to the lord, he is the reason I now have a healthy 11 month old.
