My 10 Month Old’s 10 Favorite Finger Foods
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a baby food adventure mostly because Little Bean isn’t eating much baby food anymore. He’s self-feeding, making meal time MUCH easier for mommy.
Like most, if not all babies, he’s fickle. One day he LOVES banana, the next day he wants nothing to do with them. He’ll eat grapes with breakfast and then push them off his tray at lunch. It’s maddening!
However, these 10 things he’ll eat without complaint every. Single. Time …
**Just a note that this isn’t a recommendation post. I’m sharing MY baby’s favorite foods, as the title suggests.

Jen G commented on Jan 26 12 at 1:27 pmAnybody know how to get your baby to stop throwing food on the floor? I have a just turned one year old that hasn’t always loved to eat and we’ve developed some bad habits.
Holly commented on Jan 26 12 at 2:49 pmGreat ideas, Roni! Thanks for the suggestions. I just opened a can of black beans and my ten month old is loving them!
Roni commented on Jan 26 12 at 3:20 pm@Jen G – oh boy, I’m right there with you. I have to sweep after every meal. He also throws his cup when he’s done drinking.
Bre commented on Jan 26 12 at 3:45 pmmy suggestion for food on the floor is a puppy :)
SJ commented on Jan 26 12 at 8:12 pmDo you cut up the pasta? I am scared that my baby will choke but really want to introduce this!
Roni commented on Jan 26 12 at 8:15 pm@SJ – I don’t. The curly pasta seems to slip right down. I couldn’t believe when he started gobbling up noodle after noodle!
Maria Teixeira commented on Jan 26 12 at 11:17 pmMaybe I’m paranoid, but a bunch of these items are not recommended for babies under one. Egg whites are a common allergen – so only yokes are recommended. I boil our eggs and give my nearly 3 year old the whites and my 10 month old the yoke (I give the 3 year old a whole one too :), wheat – as in the Cheerios, pancakes (presumably) and the pasta is not recommended until past 12 months because or gluten intolerance and allergies, very common – I give my little one organic brown rice pasta and Happy Baby (?? might have the brand wrong) gluten free cheerio like things, grapes – they can’t digest the skin well and they’re a major choke hazard (I’m not too concerned about many of those items dubbed choke hazards, I just introduce them slowly and cautiously but grapes are a bit harder to really chew) Canned food – cans have been shown to have BPA and the BPA regulation laws do not apply to them yet, also many canned items have unsafe levels of lead, so if you’re going to do canned items maybe research that further. I give my babe frozen green beans, right from the freezer. He loves them! Also I think it’s important to note that cheese can been a major allergen, too.
Sorry to be a bore but I just think it’s important to put all of this out there. We’re always searching for ideas for foods to introduce. I just wouldn’t want someone to read this and not realize some of these items might not be the best choice for their baby.
Other great items are chunks of steamed sweet potato, blueberries and quinoa.
Rene commented on Jan 27 12 at 6:29 amRoni,
I’m so proud of you for raising 2 great eaters!! You are so inspiring to other mom’s.
Roni commented on Jan 27 12 at 8:59 am@maria – I’m the opposite of paranoid so I think we are on opposite ends of the spectrum and I think that’s a good thing. Everyone has to find what works for them. As for the eggs, I said in the post “egg yolk omelet” so I hear you there. My son does have a whites intolerance.
Maria commented on Jan 27 12 at 5:59 pmI just think a little disclaimer might be best practice when writing a pretty well visited blog. As people from the opposite end of the spectrum may not visit every blog and make such comments.

Danielle commented on Feb 02 12 at 12:39 amThanks for the suggestions! I have a 10 month old and was just wondering how to introduce him to “grown up” food.
p.s ~ @Maria – my pediatrician said that there are new studies and they are finding that waiting to introduce certain foods can be doing more harm than good. The only thing he said not to give my son was honey. Everything else is fair game :)
Liz commented on Mar 28 12 at 7:15 amYes, please keep up with the data on allergies Maria if you are going to be on the cautious end of the spectrum. The evidence has shown waiting is not beneficial as Danielle has said and worrying others is unnecessary.
