Michelle commented on Jan 18 12 at 4:27 pmOne of my cats (the smart one?) flees at the sight of the baby. The other (the masochist?) plops down right in front of him. At 9 months, he knows “gentle hands”, and can (sometimes) be trusted not to maul the poor cat that adores him. With supervision, they play together everyday.

oh and I want to say THANK YOU for not dumping your cat when you had another kid. I work in animal rescue and can’t tell you how many people immediately want to get rid of their pets as soon as they find out they are having a baby. Most don’t even give their pets a chance; they just assume their pet is going to maul their baby or they will have “no time” for them. My brother and I were born into a home with 2 Great Danes and *somehow* we all survived. ;) We had lots of other pets as we got older and I’m so thankful my parents let us because it enriches a childs life so much and teaches them to love and respect animals. Thanks again!

My tabby is pretty good natured and put (s) up with moderate molesting. My ex-barn cat, with a healthy dose of Siamese? Not so much. You get one, maybe two warning swipes ( claws in check) After that, he is not responsible if you happen to get in the way of his swing. LOL
