7 Commonly Misused Baby Products
There are products we all find ourselves using as baby toys once we become moms such as measuring cups and spoons (Natalie was right — best toy ever!). However there are some things that are meant for babies, that when used incorrectly, can have catastrophic consequences. One that has been in the media recently is the common misuse of the Bumbo baby seat. When there is a warning not to put a product on a high surface, there’s a reason. I loved the Bumbo for the season that we (properly) used it.
Just like the Bumbo, a product used properly can be a handy little helper for a busy mom, but when used improperly can injure a child, or worse, leave a family without a child. Below you’ll find seven products that can make your life easier as a parent when used properly, but require constant vigilance to assure the safety of the child.
It seems easy enough to run and get a towel from the dryer, soap from the sink ... I know, because I've been tempted to do it. But babies should never be left alone in any bit of water. Ever. (Statistics from 2005-2009 CPSC data)

Jenni commented on Jan 17 12 at 9:41 pmSome of these are really scary! I am guilty of the play-yard, though. It didn’t even occur to me that my daughter could make her huge head plop over the side, followed by her body.
There are just too many accidents that can be avoided these days.

Don’t go off roading with your stroller, don’t leave baby in her play yard and go have a pint…just be sensible and stop worrying.
Tiffany Johnson commented on Jan 27 12 at 9:51 pmI could never bring myself to use my baby sling. I got one for my baby shower but then i read the cautions and it scared me.
April commented on Jan 27 12 at 10:52 pmSo basically all the items you listed are pretty much all the basic baby items everyone needs and uses daily. I played things very safe when it comes to my kids, but anything can be dangerous if used improperly and sometimes things happen. You can never make anything 100% safe. That is just reality.
