16 Style Rules for Baby-Wearing Mama
Before I had Tate, I considered myself to be something of a style expert. I wrote about it, thought about it, and wore fashionable clothes to my fashionable job.
Having Tate changed my entire outlook on getting dressed. There were so many new things to consider. How did it look on my totally changed body? Was it washable? Could I nurse in it? In the end, most of my worries were fairly easily negotiated.
The real roadblock I came up against was baby wearing. It took me a long time to develop guidelines for dressing fashionably with my new favorite accessory (read: baby) strapped to my front.

Mary commented on Jan 11 12 at 1:56 pmThis is such a great post! I love these tips. And posts are always better when they include pictures of you. :) It’s crazy how your wardrobe changes {or at least, what you wear out of your wardrobe changes} when you have a baby. I’ve learned not to wear black, because my babies love to rub their faces into my shoulders, leaving snot and drool and smudges of spit-up behind, and it shows up so clearly on black fabric. It still baffles me when members of my family come over wearing necklaces and earrings {dangly earrings!} and spend their whole visit gently taking the jewelry out of little baby hands instead of just taking them off right away.
Tammy M. commented on Jan 11 12 at 8:36 pmI bought a navy blue Moby Wrap after my daughter was born cuz Daddy was supposed to be the one wearing it. He used it ONCE and now I have a “boy” color Moby wrap….and a 2nd daughter on the way. Ah well…at least it’s fairly neutral and the pink headbands stand out against it!!!
Janssen commented on Jan 25 12 at 12:06 pmI went right out and bought those flats from Kohls. . .I LOVE them (and they are fuzzy on the inside, so they are like wearing slippers!).
Here they arein the wild :) Thanks for suggesting these!
Lauren commented on Jan 25 12 at 2:44 pmCute article and I love baby wearing! My only complaint is the carrier that is shown in the picture is sooooo bad for babies and can cause hip dysplasia and sometimes even worse for baby. http://www.hipdysplasia.org/Developmental-Dysplasia-Of-The-Hip/Prevention/Baby-Carriers-Seats-and-Other-Equipment/Default.aspx . Buy carriers that put your baby in a more natural position and not “crotch dangler” ones please.
