amber 8812 200x300 10 Unique Baltic Amber Teething NecklacesTalk about teething remedies long enough around enough different people, and the topic of Baltic amber teething necklaces will come up. I first saw one on a friend’s baby in August and didn’t think much of it. I have an amber necklace and a very crunchy friend of mine mentioned how powerful it must be and I brushed her off as a little out there. As Vivi has been flirting with cutting teeth (whatever, I say flirting but it’s more like a snot covered blood bath) I saw Baltic amber mentioned more and more.

I did some research and it seems pretty divided as far as “IT TOTALLY WORKS” vs. “HOOEY! THE WHOLE LOT OF IT!” I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. I bought a pretty simple one, but after doing a little more research I learned that even if they don’t work? They sure can be pretty.

I don’t let her sleep in it or wear it when she’s not in my direct line of sight, so for the times she’s awake and in my view she has worn it and hasn’t been nearly as grouchy as I remember Addie being. Her first tooth made it through yesterday and it was pretty uneventful (aside from all the snot. ZOMG THE SNOT.)

All these necklaces are knotted between each bead for safety and made of Baltic amber which is the best for analgesic properties. Many of the necklaces come from Latvia, but some are produced stateside. Be aware when ordering or you could be facing three weeks of waiting.

(For those of you who are just now hearing about Baltic amber teething necklaces, they are not to chew on but instead meant to be worn against the skin so they can release healing oils.)

Vivi in her Necklace.
Regardless of if it *actually* works, she looks lovely in it and I believe it works.

I no longer have a teething baby, so what I want to know is: will amber jewelry calm ME?!?

Cool! I’ll definitely give those a try when this Little Miss starts teething. Another thing I swear by after going through teething with my last baby is lavender essential oil (doTERRA brand is the best). You rub it along their jaw line and since lavender essential oil has awesome circulatory properties it helps with the swelling of the gums! This time I’ll also try clove essential oil because it has an analgesic effect on the gums (I’ll dilute it with coconut oil).

my in-laws are from Lithuania and they have given me amber jewelry. they told me it’s a tradition that all Lithuanian women must have amber jewelry! they never have said anything about the connection to babies and teething, but i will have to ask my MIL if this is popular there. i have to say though- i’ve never seen any of my in-laws babies wearing jewelry!

My daughter (only 3 months old but TEETHING!) has a teething necklace, and it *seems* to help her. And also: the lighter the beads, the more effective the necklace.

I love this. This chicky I follow on Instagram had her kid in this, and silly me kept thinking “Wow how stylish her 10 month old is. Look at him sporting a necklace!”

Oh. That’s why.

So, in Germany we’ve worn amber necklaces for teething for centuries. Amber is a natural analgesic, so it’s meant to help when the teeth are cutting through. The best ones are the light yellows ones. My 10 months old has been wearing his since he was 2 months old. He wears it all the time, I did when I was a baby. And the one night that we forgot to put it on he was very restless. I love how this seems to be the new ‘baby trend’…and I have to laugh, as the same happened with Birkenstock’s. I remember having to wear them when I was little and we were seen as ‘alternative’…too funny.

Oh! I love the colors. For sure the baby will like it and will help to ease discomfort in their teething stage
