I Am Thankful For Addison
Couldn't be more Thankful
Thanksgiving is when we give thanks for all in our life we are thankful for, right?
Well 2011 has been a roller coaster of a year for our family. We welcomed the first little girl since I was born in 1985, we lost my big sister tragically, and somehow I have found the strength to make it through the holidays… at least I think I have.
Don’t think for a minute I am not extremely thankful for all of my children, and my life in general, because I am — but I think I will chat more about the boys and their hysterical moments that make me love them more and more on Toddler Times.
After two boys, and the decision we were not having anymore children … at least anytime soon, I had given up on the idea of having a daughter. And while it may sound extremely selfish, there is absolutely nothing wrong with people wanting a son, or a daughter, or a specific gender when it comes to children. There were so many lessons I wanted to teach my little girl that my own mother had handed down to me and I never thought I would be able to.
When I found out we were having a girl I was over the moon, and even more thankful for our surprise blessing we were granted. It was a wish come true, because I was fully prepared to refer to my children as my three sons.
Over the course of the past almost seven months this little girl has taught me so much. About being a mother, life, parenting, loving, and everything under the sun. I never thought she would have taught me instead of the other way around. What an amazing gift for any parent, right?
I know, I sound so mushy, and like such a sap … but I could have never imagined last Thanksgiving that I would be sharing my table with the first granddaughter in our family.
