The Video Monitor, My Most Beloved Frivolity.

Summer Infant 28034 Best View Handheld Color Video Monitor The Video Monitor, My Most Beloved Frivolity. With my first, there were many times I thought I heard something resembling baby squeaks coming from her room. I’d stare at the monitor waiting for any little blip or squeak, thinking I heard something, but I could never be sure. There would be times I knew I heard something and so I’d go in only to find her still asleep, or worse yet, she had been asleep, but I had woken her up by checking on her.

Later on I came up with a deviously angled mirror so I could see her in her crib but she couldn’t see me. It worked well enough, but all it took was for a cat to go barging into her room through the crack I left so that I could see the mirror. Then there were other nights where she awoke screaming, I never knew what I was headed in for. I dreamed of being able to see her without actually having to disturb her.

I dreamed of a video monitor.

And when I got pregnant for the second time? The video monitor fast-tracked itself to the very front of my registry.

I received a Summer Infant Best View video monitor as a gift and immediately began using it to spy on Addie playing in Vivi’s (soon-to-be) room. I was always curious what she went in there to do because whenever I peeked in to check on her she abandoned playing and stared at me like a deer in headlights.

Turns out she would take her teddy bear in there, change it, dress it, feed it and put it to sleep in Vivi’s crib. She left a swaddled teddy bear in the crib overnight once and it just about scared Cody half to death when he saw a little bundled up body in the crib when I was still quite pregnant.

We use the video monitor every. single. day. and in 6 short but furiously fast months it has saved us from interrupting a nap at least two dozen times and now that she has become moreĀ  mobile it has allowed us to check on her sleeping positions without disturbing her.

I will admit that at over $150 it is a complete luxury item in most cases, but I’m willing to forgo luxury in other areas for the convenience of a video monitor.

The only downside?

How creepy babies look on them when their rooms are dark.

Just an FYI. There was a story on my local news about video monitors.

Super creepy! haha. The next paranormal activity could be filmed entirely on one of those monitors.

Idefinitely see the appeal, but it just isn’t in the budget.

Ooh the glowing eyes. Otherwise, great frivolity that I love as well.
