The Many Uses of Our Bedroom

Baby has made our bedroom, anything but romantic.

A few years ago I was watching a design show. They were talking about how sacred your bedroom should be. How you should keep photos of your family and toys in other rooms. Candles on the dresser and the overall feel should be romantic so it can be full of romance.

That designer obviously didn’t have a baby.

After having Zeke our bedroom became multifunctional to the point of ridiculousness.

Our bedroom has become:

  • A nursery
  • Home office
  • Exercise room
  • Play room
  • Media room
  • Dressing area

With this being our fourth child and having  a four bedroom house — we created a fifth room losing our study. The treadmill is no longer safe in the game room due to our 19-month old. And while we typically co-sleep, little boo bear (and we) occasionally needs his own space and we’re not ready to move him into his nursery.

So Mr. Designer, try designing for the first year post-baby. Romantic? Maybe if you think stinky bottles from yesterday are HOT and SEXY!

Wow, yes. My day is pretty much a closed circuit between the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Now that he’s starting to nap more reliably, I finally remember I have other rooms… since I’m leaving MY room to keep from waking the baby!

@Meagan Glad we’re not alone! How old is your little one?
