What Did You Think of Up All Night?

Up All Night Promo NBC 1 300x300 What Did You Think of Up All Night? Up All Night is a new series on NBC that premiered this week.  It stars Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, as cute new parents working to find the balance of a new baby, work and their home life.  New mom, Reagan, is going back to work while dad, Chris is going to be a stay-at-home dad.

I missed the pilot -– it was on at 10pm Wednesday and I had been in bed for hours –- but I just watched the preview online…

It’s funny because like many new parents, we can definitely relate to the show on many levels.  Even though we don’t call my husband a stay-at-home dad, he’s currently at home with Wolf while I’m back at work.  I wish the tables were turned but this is our life right now.  Watching the preview made me giggle thinking about dad/baby scenarios with Wolf.  I imagine the two of them being silly together during the day.  But there’s quite a few elements of the show that I find unbelievable.  The swearing, the partying?  A bit too much.

Did you watch the show?  What do you think?  I like where it’s headed and I’m excited to watch more episodes.  Next week Up All Night will air in its regularly scheduled time slot, 8:00 p.m. ET on Wednesdays.  If you missed the pilot episode you can watch it online at NBC.com.

i thought it was cute – the part where they were hung-over and dealing w/the diaper change was hilarious… but agree, there were some unbelievable stuff – my hubby and i haven’t been out alone, at night, since before my son was born and he’ll be 11-months… i hope it does well though – they are great pair! :)

I had a hard believing they were young enough to WANT to party like that. Seriously? They are old enough to know that binge drinking isn’t worth the hangover.
I thought it would have been much funnier if the pilot involved trying to go out for dinner, but being called back home every time because of something ridiculous with the baby. That would be way more true to life and much funnier.
Also, as my hubby pointed out, there wasn’t much of a plot. It was basically a series of goofy scenes loosely connected by the fact that they have a baby. I really hope the writers get their act together because Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph are two of my favorite comedians.

I thought it has a lot of potential…pilots are never that great, I mean have you ever looked back at the pilot of SATC? Horrible compared to what came after!

I loved it. I can def relate to the cursing, my friends have had to intervene. And I felt a special connection with her when she was angrily washing bottles :) also loved the daddy-bonding (with the fellow gamer). My hubs has become much closer with his daddy-friends.

The only thing I didn’t like was how calm the dang kid is!

I liked it, but I was really wishing they had covered a scene with the babysitter. The mom comes home late from work, tells her husband she is ready to party, and he says “I’ll call the babysitter”. What? Who is this babysitter, available at a moment’s notice late at night and then willing to stay until who knows what hour?
Maybe I’m overthinking this.

I had high hopes for this show as I’ve loved Will Arnett from his Arrested Development days – and with the comic talent of Christina and Maya, I thought I’d be crying with laughter. Some funny bits, but on the whole I thought it missed the mark. Hope this is just pilot show jitters and that it improves next week.

The cursing was true for us! Also loved the diaper changing scene and the “You were asleep” bits. Can’t wait to see where they go with it.

I only saw pieces of it, but what I saw was funny. I actually thought the swearing and the paying-for-the-party bits were funny and at least somewhat true to life. My husband saw more of it and liked it. I’d like to watch it again, but I see that it’s on at 7 CST. What the heck?!? I have 3 kids — 5, 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 — and they’re not in bed at 7. So because of the time slot, we two, people with kids, won’t be able to watch a show about people with kids. Bummer. (No, no DVR.)

we regularly have the “you were asleep” debate! the show has potential.
