Proud Mama

There is something undeniably special about dads and daughters. Conversely, there is something so sweet about boys and their mamas.

Mama’s boy.

It can be a huge bummer to date a mama’s boy, that’s for sure. Been there done that. But if his mama done raised him right, it can be the greatest thing ever. Have you ever noticed that boys with several sisters seem more in tune with the needs and emotions of women?

I am so overjoyed to be the mama of this little boy. My heart is so full. Not a day goes by that I don’t marvel at this sweet feller that found his way to me. ME. I will be his mama forever. I daydream about what he’ll be like in the future and hope that I have the ability to mold him into the kind of man any mama would be proud to call son.

There aren’t many photos of me and my HenryBoy. Mostly because I still feel off since giving birth and haven’t wanted to document this particular time. And then I realized how stupid that is. Screw that. I want as many photos of me and my boy as possible. Take all the photos you can!  Even if you feel like crap.  That said, here then, are some of my favorite mom/Henry photos coupled with some stuff I’ve written about my lil’ sweetheart.

It's A Boy
So anyway, the technician is grinning like a fool and points to a black spot between two appendage looking things and says "See there. See? Do you know what you're having now?" And I look and I don't see a damn thing and since I don't see a damn thing I say "A girl? I'm having a girl!" He smiles then laughs. "Nope." Turns out THERE IS A PENIS IN MY BODY AT THIS VERY MOMENT! I saw it! Serge is already saying it looks unusually large and the technician wisely agreed.

I got all teary reading this because I am the proud Mama of 2 Mama boys. One is 17 yrs old and ready to leave me for college ( I still cannot watch Toy Story 3 without dissolving into tears) and the other 18 months old who follows me around like a shadow. Those boys are my life and I feel incredibly blessed to have them. Your Henry is a cutie. And your Violet is a Doll.

Me too! I did not feel cute so I shied away from the camera at first. However when I saw the cute pics of my husband with the baby, I realized I was being silly. Now I loves those pictures from the early months. Being the mom of a boy is fantastic.

I do wonder why mama’s boy isn’t seen as something to be proud of as much as a daddy’s girl. Whenever someone says mama’s boy it’s almost as if they are calling him a wimp. Anybody else get that feeling?

My bouncing beautiful baby boy is now 8 months old. I am very happily married to a wonderful man who is a great father, however my little guy is my prince charming I’ve been waiting for:) We have Lots of photo shoots together! My Mom lived out of state and died abruptly. My son was still considered preemie at the time so we hadn’t gone for a visit yet My Mother took many pictures of me as a baby and child and my favorite ones now are the one with her and I together. I like to look back at those photos to see the expression of love on our faces and in our eyes for eachother. Keep the cameras rolling!!!

My amazing son is just over 5months and i still feel too ew-looking (im always in shorts a tank, my hair is falling out and its a mess and i cannot remember when i wore makeup last) to take pictures with him, however there are tuns of pictures of him and my husband, and of coarse literally a few hundred of him alone but only about maybe 6 of only us 2. After reading this i realized how silly i am for not wanting to be in front of the camera and that i should put that aside now before i let all these precious early moments slip out of my hands i only have a little bit of time before he starts wanting to do every thing on his own. So, thank you for this post, you’ve really opened my eyes! :)

@Karen – Exactly!!! You only get one shot during these first few months and then those sweet photo-ops are gone forever. Just do it! And another plus – in the future, when you’ve lost all the baby weight or whatever it is that’s making you feel down – you can look back on these photos of your post-baby schlumpy days and really see how are you’ve come.

Even if you feel like crap you and your gorgeous boy look fab and so happy together! I also have a daughter Violet’s age and I have a 9 week old son. It surprises me daily how much and differently I love my boy. Love. My heart skips a beat. Then I think about how much I love my daughter and I feel so lucky to have them both. So different and unique, just as my feelings for them both.

but you look so beautiful in all of these pictures…it sux that women are so hard on themselves, myself included—ahhh society blows! i’m happy to hear that for now you’re ignoring dumb society, who are just sheep by the way, and taking photos with your adorable boy. lauramauk.blogspot.com
