Bath? Yes. Pool? Maybe
The Boys and I in the pool.
Remember when I told you Little Bean’s most favorite thing was the bath? He still absolutely loves it. Not fussing once in his 4 and half months.
I assumed this was a love of water, but I may be mistaken.
First clue: Our recent trip to the beach. Little Bean did fabulous on the beach but any attempt to dip his toes in the ocean resulted in The “I just got shot in the foot” face.
In his defense the water was fairly cold. About 67 degrees.
Second clue: This weekend in Grandma’s pool. The water was warm, around 85 and I though it would be fun to bring Little bean in for a short dip. I was hoping that once he got acclimated to the water, he’d start to enjoy it.
He didn’t.
In light of this new evidence, it seems Little Bean likes water ONLY if it’s about 95 degrees.
I’m hoping this will change as he gets older. Both his brother and I were fish in previous lives. ;)

Assila commented on Jul 31 11 at 6:41 pmTry getting a rash guard or some sort of neoprene shirt for him to wear. My son has been swimming in pools and the ocean since he was about 3 months old (he’s 10 months now) and lasts a lot longer if he is wearing a shirt. I also found that cloth diapers instead of disposables keep him warmer as well.
Monica commented on Jul 31 11 at 7:41 pmMy son, who’s now 3, was the same way. Loved bath time, pool time not so much. He loves both now though. My 5 month old (almost 6 months) hates the bath, but as long as she’s in the water wrap with me she is fine in the pool or any body of water really. She does okay in the shower with me too if she’s in the wrap. Maybe Little Bean would like a water wrap???
Kate commented on Jul 31 11 at 9:27 pmMy son (6 months) doesn’t mind baths, but looooves the pool. We have one so we’ve been swimming 3-4x a week all summer, so that may have something to do with it.
kat commented on Jul 31 11 at 11:54 pmmy son was the exact same way, I was worried since my firstborn has always been a bath and pool lover – but now at almost 1.5 years my little one has turned into a fish in the pool – loves to go underwater and is crazy in love with both pool and bath…

Alejandra commented on Aug 01 11 at 1:19 pmMy daughter who will be 4 months tomorrow has been in a pool since 2 months and loves it. She has always loved bath time. My oldest who will turn 4 in December also was a mermaid in her previous life as well because she is already swimming on her own. I guess they take after their mommy. :D
